ISLAMIC, Time of the Rashidun. Pseudo-Byzantine types. Fals (Bronze, 16 mm, 1.88 g, 12 h), Pseudo-Byzantine type, uncertain mint, circa AH 20s / AD 640s. Draped and beardless imperial bust facing, wearing crown surmounted by cross; around, traces of legend. Rev. Large K flanked by A/N/N/O and cross; above X; below, B. Apparently unpublished. Repatinated and with light corrosion, otherwise, very fine.

The obverse of this fascinating coin imitates that of the 'INPER CONST' issue of Constans II from Constantinopolis (cf. SB 1004 (for prototype)). The reverse, however, is modeled after the reverse of a half follis of Maurice Tiberius from Antioch (cf. SB 497 (for prototype)).
